New School Year!

So, a new school year and hopefully lots of new Bento creations to share. Last year I didn't make nearly as many as I wanted. My goal is to make lunch for the twins three times a week.
Lupe started middle school this year, so she probably won't take as many...we'll see. :)
Today was the first day of school for the kids. They were so excited!! I think I'll plan out some bentos for next week and his the grocery store today to get ready!
Yay!!

New Stuff

Sorry, no fabulous bentos today. :) Ben stayed home from school sick and I just didn't have any inspiration this morning to make anything. The girls are going to buy hot lunches today. I need to remember to ask Lupe if the quality of lunches has gone up now that they are in the new building...
I ordered some new bento stuff yesterday...shhhhh, don't tell my husband! :) Oh wait!! He's a follower of my blog...oops! ha ha ha I actually got a lot of stuff for a very good price though. No worries hunny! :) A friend asked me for links for good places to shop for bento stuff...and it just got me looking. lol So, I ordered a few new bentos and accessories. several of the bentos were $3.99! Now, they might be too small for older kids, but I have one in this size already, and it fits plenty for the twins. Just depends on what it is. I also ordered one for the hubby to take to work. Just a basic, black, manly looking bento. ha ha ha I wouldn't send him with Hello Kitty or anything.
If anyone is in the market for some good bento stuff, check out www.allthingsforsale.com
Lots of super cute stuff at great prices!! These would also make great snack boxes for you working people or college students.
Well, I hope I have something good to post tomorrow. I think I might make some onigiri or something. (those are shaped rice balls) Have a great day!!!

Happy Birthday!!!

Well, today is the twins 4th birthday!! Yay!
I wish I had planned a super special bento with colors and super fun stuff...maybe a birthday cake made out of lunch items. ha ha ha
However, I did not. :) Busy day yesterday and I just totally forgot to plan.
They are super excited about the lunch they are taking though. Some yummy buttered egg noodles and cute, little adorable penguin hot dogs. ;)
The other tier has Nilla Wafers, half a clementine and a candy bar.

I used one of my little weiner cutters for the penguin. Aren't they cute? In a strange hot dog kind of way at least. lol

Wednesday Bento

So excited for this bento. :) Finally, kids in school who like eggs! ha ha ha Lupe is not a fan of boiled eggs, and I've had these cute little egg molds forever.
So, here are the bentos for the twins. A bear and a blue car for ben...and tomatoes!!! My only tomato lover. :) A bunny and green fishy for Izzy. I finished off with some salad(which they did not eat) and an apple, strawberries and a kiss!
Love my bento babies.

Lupe loved her lunch even though it wasn't as exciting for me. :) She got a sandwich with bologna, salami, shredded cheese and ranch. (yes, that's what she likes. ha ha) Pickle, cucumbers and same fruit and kiss as the twins.
Yum!

Yum-Yum Bento Box

Sorry, no bento pictures today. I didn't have any inspiration this morning...or ingredients. :) Heading to the grocery today.
However, inspiration came in the mail and I had to share! I finally ordered my copy of Yum-Yum Bento Box a super cool book by Crystal Watanabe and Maki Ogawa. If you think your kids would like cute little meals of love to take to school, I highly recommend it!! I'm going to read through it again as I make my meal plan and shopping list. It's awesome!
You can also check out their blogs if you aren't sure you want to buy the book yet.

School Day Two

I'm so proud of myself, I got up early and made these lunches fresh. :) I always felt bad if I made pasta or rice or something and did it the day before so it was refrigerated all night. I made pasta and meatballs this morning and let them cool a bit before putting the boxes together. I just think it will taste so much better! :) Very strange having my house smell like dinner so early though. ha ha
Anyway, here are their bentos for their second day of school! Pasta with sauce, meatballs and a mozzarella man. Isn't he cute?? Grapes, Cheez-its and a reese's peanut butter cup. Yumm!!!! They also have cute little face pics for the meatballs, and animal ones for the grapes. I also got them some cute neoprene lunch bags to carry the bentos to school in. I sent them with a little bottle of Sunny Delight today, and a fork for the pasta. I think these should be pretty yummy, even though Lupe turned her nose up at the sauce on the pasta...she's a butter only kind of gal.
Well, that's it for Day 2!

It's Bento Time Again!!!

Yay!! First day of school! And, now I get to make 3 bentos everyday. My twins started pre-K this year and I'm lucky enough that they go to the elementary with Lupe and it is full day! WooHoo!!
The twins birthday is this Thursday, the big 4!!! I just ordered them their own bento boxes, a frog for Ben and a Pig for Izzy. They look just like Lupe's panda bento that she got for her last birthday! I'm super excited about them! :)
So, here is our first day of school Bento! Super easy and something I knew the twins would enjoy on their very first day! :)

Peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. This one pictured is Lupe, so no jelly because she's crazy like that. :) Nilla Wafer cookies, carrots and watermelon. Yum!!
